IBM Sterling OMS SaaS
Played a major role in the orchestration microservice, developed several APIs to enable customers manage their OMS Cloud environments.
- Designed and implemented core backend modules in a Vert.x-based orchestration microservice, including APIs for environment provisioning, state management, and configuration orchestration; reduced manual intervention across 300+ multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters.
- Engineered a distributed session management layer on DB2 + WebSphere Liberty, using JDBC-based persistence and custom caching strategies to support stateless deployments; enabled HPA-driven elasticity without breaking session affinity.
- Refactored service communication pipelines to adopt Istio Ambient Mesh, migrating from sidecar-based traffic interception to waypoint proxies; optimized inter-service RPC calls and reduced CPU/memory overhead by ~15% per pod.
- Developed fault-tolerant orchestration workflows with compensation logic (rollback on partial failures) and exponential backoff retry strategies, improving platform resiliency and reducing incident recovery time.
- Contributed to infrastructure cost optimization by redesigning session affinity, reducing sidecar footprint, and implementing lightweight event-driven workflows; collectively saving 10%+ in cloud costs.
